How To Grow Your Law Firm / Legal Practice – IT Strategy and Consultation
The Private Attorney and/or Small Partnership Legal Practice is facing tough challenges in 2018. As information hits an all-time low in cost to acquire, the quality and value has never been more important.
Consider the Justice industry at large and think of the faces that continually bring positive results for their customers. Can you name a single attorney? Perhaps the Firm, perhaps even the case. If you haven’t had to engage with a legal councilor, how would you make your selection when the need arises?
Because of the confidential nature of Client/Attorney information, it’s very difficult to convey trust, intelligence and professionalism in a general setting. CodeBlue services many law firms in Central Virginia and all of them are remarkably thoughtful and decorated fighters for justice. However, growing that groundwork exponentially is going to become necessary in a very short time.
- Be Human — One of the most impressionable moments I’ve ever had in evaluating law firms was discovering Dina LaPolt. She is in entertainment law, which is as cut-throat and hush-hush as you get. Whether a missed judgement call or marketing brilliance, Dina took a ride with one of her clients (linked here) and recorded the entire trip. This colorful journey highlighted one of the most striking features of the modern Lawyer. They’re human. They have a sense of humor. They step out of their shroud of mystery and explain things in a professional, yet entertaining way that make people comfortable. In the legal profession, comfort is a sparse resource. Creating that for your customer is a huge value.
- Be Interested — Your customers are evaluating their chances with you before they ever engage. Are you the most interested Traffic Safety counselor on the internet? Have you petitioned for rallied for a cause that you believe in strongly? What do your previous cases have to say about your passion for your work? Did you know YouTube.com is the second largest search engine online today? Could you customers become comfortable with you by watching your stance on a legal issue they have? Making the evaluation portion of Attorney selection easier, requires knowing your customers. Where are they spending their time? Be there and encourage Q/A in that forum.
- Promote Your Empathy — If you have a loud passion for justice, your online presence should reflect that. From your Customer Relationship Manager software, down to your phone system. Your outdoor marketing may encourage a phone call, but how does that transfer once they’re in the door? Do they hear more about what they came for? Do they have to repeat themselves over basic information? Your business handles that which cannot be handled by the injured or otherwise disenfranchised. Your strength is their comfort.
The digital age of service selection is upon us. The platforms of today can hold you up or hold you back. Customers still want a positive experience. They want value in their selection and leave the long-term relationship up to the proprietor. It is your privilege to provide a host of services and resolutions.
These services could be case-study videos, used for client education. Services such as live Q/A via Facebook & Instagram or even directly via chat on your website. Podcasting is a great medium for those on the run. A short daily or weekly spot on a topic will add tremendous value to your prospective customers. All of these services can be rendered simply using a smartphone.

And remember, Social Media is as professional as you make it. The stigma is from business owners that aren’t active enough to try it. Go where they won’t. Achieve what they can’t.
